Wouldn't it be nice to have one program that could play all the most popular types of audio? AllSound 98 is a small 32-bit utility that can audition not only .wav and MIDI files, but has built-in support for .mp2 and .mp3 files -- no helper app needed. It can also handle audio CDs. Files can be loaded into the program's playlist separately, or you can mix and match your favorite music files into savable groups and load an entire group at once. Other features include shuffle, repeat, and intro modes; several customizable view settings; a shuffle bar; and a clean, elegant interface. You can try this unregistered version for up to 50 days..
